What We Believe and Do

Waverley Montessori is located in Mulgrave, Melbourne. We offer long day care, are a Child Care Subsidy (CCS) approved provider, and receive 3 and 4 year old kinder funding. Established in 1999, we have over 20 years of teaching experience. You can rest assured that your child is receiving the best care and education.

We are a standalone purpose-built Centre with wide open spaces and plenty of light, and a large natural outdoor play area.

Using the Montessori Philosophy, we approach each child's learning individually and provide an authentic Montessori education within a day care setting. We teach children math, reading and writing, as well as practical life skills using Montessori material. 

A small centre, we target each child's potential and provide a stimulating, warm and friendly environment where we guide children to achieve the best they can. We develop the child's concentration and focus in preparation for school.

Our aim is to give every child a happy, stimulating experience by offering a safe environment for them to explore and learn. We encourage the children to participate in all Montessori areas - language, maths, cultural life, sensorial and practical life, to build their love for learning. 

Our prepared Montessori environment and Montessori trained educators guide children through the Montessori activities and children leave the Centre after two years knowing to read, write and do math.

No two students have exactly the same skills or learning style. Through freedom of choice in a prepared Montessori learning environment we promote self-confidence and self-esteem; thinking processes; independence and responsibility; concentration and persistence in completing tasks; respect for people, nature and resources; a natural curiosity in the world; initiative and self-motivation; a sense of order; and a love of learning.

Our Educators believe that each child has the power to learn, are curious and creative, and can succeed. There is always one Montessori trained educator in the classroom that has early childhood qualifications. 

Zarine Irani (Director and Lead Educator): 

Zarine has completed a Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood and a Diploma in Montessori Studies. She has over 20 years experience in delivering the Montessori method at the Waverley Montessori Early Learning Centre. She personally enjoys seeing the children’s progress from the start of the two year program to the end. Zarine truly believes the benefits of the Montessori philosophy and two of her three children completed Cycle 1.
